This morning Jacob had his one year exam. He is in great health or he is "perfect" according the doctor. His stats Height: 31 1/2 (93%) , Weight: 24.4 lbs (72%), Head measurement: 19"

Since he looks so much like Matthew we cannot help but compare. Her is Matthew's post to make that job easier. Matthew's one year exam stats.

First Cake and Shoe Munch with Kerry

Jacob's birthday is on Tuesday but I thought it would be a good idea to give him his first taste of birthday cake in a cone while family was together for Easter. He enjoyed some bonding time with Kerry and even stole her shoes. I guess he wanted to munch the shoe instead of the cake.

TMBJJ (There Might Be Jump Jumps) and Jacob's First Egg Hunt

We had an action packed weekend. It was beautiful outside so the family spent a lot of time at playgrounds or outside festivals where there have been space walks, or Jump Jumps as Matthew refers to them. Matthew is obsessed with Jump Jumps so Tony and I must speak in code when we discuss an activity. In other words TMBJJ means There Might Be Jump Jumps. We must say that to avoid getting Matthew's hopes up in case the planned activity is a non-Jump Jump event. Fortunately, for Matthew all activities this weekend had Jump Jumps including Jacob's first Easter Egg hunt at the community playground area.

Space Race 2011 with Matthew and Space Monkey

On Sunday April 10th, Tony and I rode in the Space Race with Matthew in the trailer. Tony did the honors of transporting the extra 50+ pounds (trailer + Matthew) behind him for the 20 miles. What Tony wasn't ready for was the headwind for the majority of the ride. I have to admit my ride was a LOT easier because I rode behind Tony and Matthew. I had to keep an eye on Matthew, but this allowed me to draft off of my 6'5" husband. In other words Tony did ALL of the work. Tony got a great work out and I got only 1/3 of the mileage I wanted.. but no complaints because we had a great time with Matthew.

Before the ride, 8AM Sunday morning Matthew was given a new NASA Space Monkey to celebrate the occasion:

At the rest stop where Matthew got some cookies and then played in the playground before returning into his trailer for the remaining hour and a half.

Tony crossing the finish line, being cheered on by many enthusiastic volunteers.

Matthew and Tony eating their post ride McDonalds hamburgers. Did I mention that Ronald McDonald House was the charity being supported. It would also explain the next photo.

I think you have to be at least 30 years old in order to remember these guys, Grimace and Hamburgler. Where have they been for the last 20 years? One theory is that they have been in prison and recently released.. wait that was an Onion article. Either way, I think Matthew's expression shows that he is a little leery about associating with these guys.

After the ride Matthew gave Jacob one of the granola bars that he got at a rest stop. Jacob loved it.

Also, Jacob wanted me to post this photo of a gift he got from his Uncle/Aunt and Cousin Trinity:

No Bongos Were Hurt During This Trip to the Zoo with Unkie Jude

On Unkie Jude's birthday April 7th, Matthew and I took him to the zoo. We had a great time. Matthew said he wanted to show Unkie Jude the elephants, then giraffe, and then carousel. We did all of that and more.

We first found this animal called a Bongo.. which is the name of Matthew's favorite toy monkey. He has about 20 monkeys so it is an achievement to be ranked at top.

Of course we saw animals that we could see anywhere outside of the zoo. We were fascinated by the bunnies and the squirrels.

We went to the African Forest and Matthew got up close and personal with one chimp. Of course there is glass between them in case you couldn't tell.

He played in the playground.

Rode on Unkie Jude's shoulders to get a better view of the giraffes.

Lastly, we went out to eat at Five Guys burgers. Matthew really liked the peanuts in the shell.
