Fun Weekend/Exhausting Weekend Winterfest and Cousin Lauren's Birthday
On Saturday 1/28/12 we took Matthew and Jacob to Pearland's Winterfest. The 4 year old girl sitting next to us on the shuttle summed it up in just two sentences, "I must be dreaming. Somebody pinch me." I have never seen so many jump jumps in one place. We only had time to go to a few in order to allow time for all of the activities we wanted to try. Here is one of Matthew's favorites the Great White.
Of course Matthew went down the tornado. This was appropriate this week because on Wednesday 3 days earlier Pearland businesses about a mile away experienced a tornado:
Then Matthew and Jacob each tried tubing down the snow made from pulverized bags of ice. It was 70 degrees outside.
Pony rides (Jacob's first):
Matthew went in this saloon/brothel themed fun house at least 10 times.
It had a maze mirror and a twisty slide that simulates having a bouncer throwing out the drunks.
On Sunday we went to visit cousin Lauren for the day after her slumber party. She still had a lot of clothes in her room that they played dress up with. Jacob was glad to be the little Ken doll to allow Lauren and her friend McKensie continue the fun.
Of course the boys had a great time playing on Lauren's birthday present--- A trampoline complete with spring cover and netting. They both had a blast. See videos in another post.

Texans Cheerleaders Photos a Couple of Weeks Late
On January 6th we went to Gallery Furniture to have Matthew and Jacob meet the Texan's cheerleaders. It would have been more appropriate for me to post these photos before the big game this past Sunday. Now the photos might just bring up sad feelings that the Texan's are no longer in the play-offs. They had a great season though.
Which boy looks happiest to be photographed with beautiful cheerleaders.
Unrelated: Matthew and Jacob love wearing their matching drum shirts.

Jacob's Baptism January 15, 2012
On Sunday, January 15, 2012 Jacob Zachary Varesic was baptized at St. Helen Catholic Church in Pearland. It was a joyous occasion with Godfather: David Tran (the best man at our wedding). Jacob was 21 months years old and was one of 6 children being baptized. He was the only one over 3 months old.
I have included the photos and hopefully this will tell the story. Here is my handsome baby boy all dressed up and ready to go to church.
Jacob, his mama and grandfather
Jacob with his mother and godfather, David.
Jacob with his daddy and godfather
Handsome Matthew being a very well-behaved and proud big brother.
The baptism at the fountain. Jacob did not cry or fuss. He did wiggle around a bit though.
Proud Mama with her handsome boys.
After the baptism with the priest, Father Jim.
Jacob and family and extended family present at the baptism. Jacob's Uncle Paul, Aunt Janice, and cousin Lauren were all present. Also of course Jacob's Grandpa Morris. Grandma attended but is not in the photograph.
After the baptism, Godfather David attempts to hold Jacob.
Better luck next time, David.

Matthew's New Years Bicycle Ride
Up until December of this year Matthew has not pedaled his bicycle when we took him out to ride. He got his new bicycle with training wheels over a year ago for his 3rd birthday. Earlier whenever Tony and I took him out we would have to lean over and push him. Our backs would hurt so much afterwards that we did not try to encourage him to do it again. A couple of weeks ago Tony rigged a wooden pole to push him while he pedals. Just as I thought, Matthew only needed two outings with us pushing him to master the pedaling.
We had a good holiday weekend riding around the lake with Grandpa and then Tony. I had to take Jacob along in the wagon because he refused to be left behind.
