In Search of Wildflowers

On Sunday we took a bicycle ride with Matthew in search of wildflowers. A few weeks ago we had ridden by an area on the a bike path with a myriad of wildflowers; bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush, and pink ones (don't know the name). When we finally made it there with a camera this is what we found.. a few yellow flowers.

We decided to take some photos closer to home. The problem was that these bluebonnets were on a steep incline and Matthew had trouble standing and he insisted on carrying his drumsticks.
Matthew also had "helmet head" from the hour long bicycle ride. I guess I cannot be a perfectionist with an 18 month old.

Solution to our Escape Artist Problem

As you can see from my previous blog, Matthew has mastered the crib escape. Last night Tony came up with the solution to the problem. Tony's sister gave us a hand-me-down...crib netting designed to keep smothering cat's out of the crib. We never needed it since Tony's cat is always kept out of the baby's room. Well, this crib contraption not only keeps cat's out but it keeps baby's in. At first Matthew seemed to like the novelty of a tent-like environment.

But as you can see he slowly realized what this new tent meant to his escape plans.
I hope this doesn't thwart any future plans to go camping.

The Escape Artist

Matthew has reached a new milestone. I am not sure how long he has been working on it, but he can now climb out of his crib. After he did it for the first time on Saturday, Tony and I have been extra alert so that we can catch him. We are afraid he can hurt himself. We have placed several pillows on the floor next to the crib to catch him if he falls.. knowing that climbing out is going to be inevitable. He climbed out of the crib this morning again at 6:15 AM. Unfortunately, I won't be able to lie in bed for 20 minutes after he wakes up anymore. He used to turn on his aquarium music box on his crib to listen to music to entertain himself until his lazy mom got out of bed. But now for all I know he uses this acquarium as a stepping stone to climb out of his crib. Matthew will be 18 months old on Thursday.
