Matagorda Fishing, Doggy, Family Reunion 2009 (updated with video)

The family (including our two dogs Paxil and Domino) took a four day weekend trip to Matagorda Bay. Over the last several years it has become a tradition to rent a beach house for a partial family reunion for my father's birthday. Up until Ike's devastation of Boliver Peninsula we stayed there. We gave Matagorda a try this time. We met up with my parents, Unkie Jude, Kerry, and the four dogs, Belle, Sassy, Minnie, and Shiva.

Friday afternoon Tony went fishing and caught a 20 inch red fish. He brought it home to show to Matthew but he didn't show much interest in it. It was a little rainy Saturday but Sunday Tony took Matthew with him.
Matthew also spent a little time exploring the beach with me.
Of course he also had to explore the water. He really enjoyed his toe dipping this time, unlike the first time in December of 2007.

UPDATE: Here is video of Matthew splashing in the water. Warning: It was a windy day so the video is a bit loud. :-(

On the last day we took a stroll on the beach with Matthew and then had fun with the cooler.

I Can Feed Myself

Matthew refuses to be spoonfed anymore. However, he doesn't eat enough of the solid finger food that we give to him. So I let him feed himself the baby food. (We have decided he has outgrown the baby food but frugal me wants him to finish what we have in our cabinet before graduating him completely). Here is the result of him feeding himself.

Very Appropriate Shirt

The Shirt says: "Don't Look at Me... That Smell is coming from Daddy!" Anyone who knows Tony will realize how appropriate the shirt is.

Matthew and his Chop... I mean Drum Sticks

This past Friday Tony and I celebrated Friday the 13th (the more romantically inclined might say we celebrated Valentine's Day early). We had a nice dinner at PF Chang's China Bistro while Matthew's Unkie Jude babysat. A good time was had by all involved, despite the "uber load" Matthew left in his diapers for Jude soon after we left. Tony brought home some chopsticks for Matthew and I am sure this will come as no surprise but Matthew immediately started using them as drumsticks and played the drums (a big empty popcorn can) for almost 30 minutes while Jude accompanied him on the guitar. Video and Photo to be included soon.
